Keep it Simple or Risk Expletives!

The vast majority of stuff we do leads us to the assumption that simplicity is the means to a grand existence full of resplendent vistas, happy children, and musical birds. However given our simple goals things tend to get complicated fast so here are a few simple rules that have gotten us through the week.

  1. Keep an active list of everything that needs to be done and make sure it's a list and not a novel in paragraph format.
  2. If you pick it up finish it. In the digital world that is pretty abstract, but basically finish what you start.
  3. Dual Monitors! Dual Monitors! Dual Monitors!
  4. Comment your code.
  5. Delete things that you don't need. (Nobody needs an archive of bad ideas and failed tests. Let things go back to the source!)
  6. Remember that not everybody sees it the way you do and empathy is a pretty awesome way to not take it personally.
  7. Don't be afraid to start over. Again.

Given the challenges of day to day production it's important to keep the perspective and not get bogged down by the technical issues that arise. (Like Google apps taking a big poop! Especially after so much praise last week!)

Denis has been actively testing Genesis Rocket for Twitter to expand brand awareness and industry influence in an effort to provide another level of social media leverage. In the last two weeks our Twitter referrals on NDC have risen 27%. We will keep you posted on the magic!
